1. This is not is my job description
When you join a job, you know well about your job responsibilities. But as change is inevitable, many changes may occur at your work. In order to keep in pace with current business demand, the job responsibilities of the employees may increase or differ. If you’re given a new responsibility, instead saying no to it, talk to your senior regarding the new role. You can sort out whether you’ll be able to take the responsibility or not. Saying directly that it’s not in your job description gives a bad impression.

2. I can’t do that
When you say, ‘I can’t do that’, it’s like giving up. People who become successful in their career never give up; they stay away from using such negative phrases. In fact, they try to offer solutions to the problem or task, instead of saying ‘no’. Employers like people who have forward-thinking approach and are problem solvers; such employees are sure to climb the corporate ladder.

3. It’s not my fault
Successful people never blame others for their own mistake. If they have made any mistake, they admit it. Doing so doesn’t make one incapable of doing things, rather it shows his/her character and the ability to learn from the mistake and grow better.

4. This will take just a minute
‘This will take just a minute’ is one of the most dangerous phrases that most people make the mistake of using it. A minute is just 60 seconds and doing a thing in such a little time is very hard. Even if you can do a task in a minute, when you say so it seems you’re over-promising and that the work is not at all difficult and undermines your effort.

5. I’ll try
The word ‘try’ sounds very tentative and seems like you lack confidence and put questions on your ability to perform the task. When you’re asked to do a work, you should either take full ownership of your capabilities and commit to it or offer an alternative solution.

6. I don’t need any help
No matter you can do a task alone, but when you work in an organization teamwork is very essential to reach the organizational goals. Successful people never say such phrases as they know the importance of teamwork. When you work well with others, it’s a trait that good leader possess.

7. I know enough
Successful people are always open to learning opportunities. When you have a strong desire to learn, you can become successful in your career and don’t feel ashamed when they don’t know something.
